Last week I was going through the checkout in Coles and started putting the bags in the trolley…and there they were on the counter..EASTER EGGS! In January! I guess Cadbury Creme Eggs have become so popular over the years they could well be considered a regular chocolate item, or is it really a case of Easter (and Christmas) arriving very (commercially) early each year?
As a mum to a toddler one of my first thoughts was “great, now I have several months of saying no to easter eggs” (after spending a lot of the last months of last year explaining that “yes, Santa IS in just about every location we go but it’s a long time before he comes to our house”.
What do you think? Good marketing? Or pushing the boundaries?
I don’t agree with it, so I don’t buy them at all! I’m a bit of a scrooge when it comes to Easter I guess. Instead, I make friends and family home made chocolate treats. Things like ‘personalised’ rocky road make great gifts, as I can throw in bits and pieces that I know each individual will like. Also great for those who have allergies, like an uncle of mine. I leave the peanuts out of his share!!
