Yesterday, 31 March 2016, I had the privilege of attending the 2016 TEDxBinnenhof event. Wow, wow, wow. 24 hours later and my mind is still blown. It was held in a stunning location – the 13th century Ridderzaal (Knight’s Hall), and an afterparty on the Hofvijver, with a view over the Mauritshuis and Parliament buildings.
This is the sixth live TEDx event I’ve attended in the Netherlands over the last 3 years, and every one has left me full of inspiration and hope. Europe, and the world, are dealing daily with what often feel like insurmountable problems. However to listen to each TEDx speaker present their expertise in their own area, with energy and enthusiasm for their one way they will change the world makes me feel that we, collectively, can do this. It will take time, and dedication and much more – but the TEDx community worldwide is bringing together the best and brightest, and at events like these, connecting them with the right people who can support these initiatives.
I loved the final words, where the example of Sudoko was used. Now normally, I’m not a big fan of these puzzles myself…I would much rather deal with people than numbers. But now, I see the connection. She explained that in Sudoko, you start with just a few numbers. You don’t know which you need to fill next and so just start one by one, working out where things fit until it all falls into place. So it is with people. By gathering ideas from those next to you, and passing them on, we all fit into the puzzle, making it – if not complete – at least contributing to it being so when the time is right.
In the breaks and at the afterparty, I was in my element. Such a powerhouse of people in a stunning location with an amazing view.
There were viewing events held in around 18 countries. You can find full details on their website here: http://tedxbinnenhof.com
I’ll share screenshots of the 12 speakers below, (which is currently on the site above as I write, but may change as they update for future events)

A fantastic team put this world-class event together, and I enjoyed meeting several of them. Well done to all of them for an amazing event.
