Zestee Social Media School – Week 06 – Linked In

Welcome to Week 6 – we’re halfway through the 12 week free social media school!  If you’re just joining us, see below for links for all the previous lessons, however you can take each week as a stand alone lesson.

This week I’ll get straight into it, we’re talking about LinkedIn and here is this week’s lesson plan, click on the link below to access the PDF file.

I’ve been using LinkedIn for several years now, but rather spasmodically.  I was first encouraged to use it by a Brazilian friend who lived in London.  She saw the potential of this tool early on and used it  well – she was actually headhunted twice via LinkedIn for amazing jobs in Europe.

My husband is an engineer and LinkedIn is his favourite social media tool.  He uses it to keep up to date with his industry worldwide and also likes to follow the careers of friends and past colleagues.

I’ve made sure my profile was up to date when I was applying for my current job, and also researched those who were interviewing me on LinkedIn!

If you get stuck using LinkedIn, visit the LinkedIn Help Center but like most of the social media tools we’ve been using, it’s quite user friendly and helps you as you go along setting up your profile.

Once you have set up your account, I’d recommend heading over to Social Media Examiner, which has a lot of articles you can read through to help make the most of LinkedIn.

You can also look at integrating your LinkedIn account with your Twitter and Facebook accounts.
This has just covered LinkedIn basics, but if you’re new to LinkedIn, should give you an overview of the potential of this tool and help you decide if you’d like to incorporate it into your social media strategy.  Love to hear your thoughts and experiences in a comment below, or come and join the conversation over on the Zestee Facebook page.

Whether you’re new to the Zestee Social Media School this week or would just like a refresher, here are the links to the previous lessons:

See you next week to discuss Databases.  Hope you’re enjoying the course and finding it useful.  Feedback is always most welcome via a comment below or renee@zestee.com.au
