Tonight, 7 February 2015, I had the pleasure of giving a short presentation at the Bloggers and Writers Meetup in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Organised by the lovely Catarina of CraftieMum, it was a short but very interesting programme and a good turn out of current and aspiring bloggers.
Firstly, she did an introduction and gave us some tips to motivate ourselves to blog. Next, I did a 10 minute talk on choosing a blogging platform, but also sharing a couple of personal experiences. I tried to pack in useful information but not be too overwhelming!
You can view my presentation on SlideShare here:
Next, Olga of European Mama talked to us about Getting Published, giving us a list of lots of ideas where we could start.
Tamkara of Naija Expat in Holland spoke next, representing the 27 bloggers who came together to create the Dutched Up book which was released recently (and which I’m grateful to be a part of!). I loved her beautiful way with words, and particularly the Nigerian quote she shared – “If you want to travel fast, travel alone. If you want to travel far, travel together”.
Donna and Catina shared details of “The Witching Hour” Storytelling Event for parents which they are running in Amsterdam (and may consider bringing to The Hague). This is a wonderful concept of sharing stories verbally.
Finally, Joe of the American Book Center (where the event was held), gave us a demonstration of the very, very cool Espresso Book Machine which prints books right before your very eyes!
We all agreed the evening went by way too fast and we hope to plan another soon.
