Networking workshop Leiden University

On 29 April 2024, I gave an in person networking workshop for the Career Information Meeting Astronomy at Leiden University.

This was my first time to this impressive building at the Universiteit Leiden Faculty of Science. It was fun to see the chalkboards when I arrived, I haven’t seen these for a long time!

I did the first impression post it note activity as an example of the types of “judgements” we make when we first meet people. We discussed the type of categories these “labels” fall into, and whether they are correct – or not – and why.

After my session I stayed on and listened to the very interesting and valuable tips from the alumni career panel:

Frank Rensen – De Volkskrant

Silvan Toet – TNO

Vanesa Ramirez – ASML

Next up was networking – with a lot of pizza!

It’s a lovely environment inside the building:

It was great to work with Kim Nguyen, from the Education Office Astronomy on this. Kim had found me via the LinkedIn posts I had done on my networking workshops with TU Delft…a great example of how using LinkedIn can create great opportunities such as this. I loved the astronomy themed wine bottle!

Would you like to book a similar workshop for your organisation? Please connect for more information.
