I’m a huge TED and TEDx fan. For many years, I’ve been inspired by the online videos, live TEDx events and also, TED Books.
For the last 2 years, I’ve been a subscriber to the TED Books App on my iPad. I paid 13,99 euros per year and enjoyed reading a number of very interesting books, presented in an interactive and easy-to-read format.
Unfortunately, on 31st January 2016, this App was retired. However I thought I’d still write this post, as some of the TED Books are still available to purchase separately, such as one of my favourites, the Art of Stillness:
Though the books are now more expensive to purchase separately than I was paying for the app (about 10 euros each for an ebook version), if you enjoy reading instead of/as well as watching the TED talk videos, this is the current library of TED books:
Each has a companion talk: (below is just a screenshot, to watch these, click on this link and scroll to bottom: https://www.ted.com/read/ted-books)
The TED website also has a Beta bookstore, with links to buy books related to other popular TED talks: https://www.ted.com/read/ted-books/the-bookstore
Oh, I just discovered, if you scroll down in the library to the “previous titles” here, you can buy some of the earlier versions, which were available through the app I subscribed to, for reasonable prices (around 2-6 euros each): https://www.ted.com/read/ted-books/ted-books-library
I will screenshot them below, but if you would like to purchase any, you will need to go to the link above. It’s a pity I paid 30 euros over two years to read these, but then was not able to keep a copy of any when the app retired. They compared it to Netflix, saying that now the subscription is no longer available, you also don’t have the access you were paying for.
My favourites were How Did You End Up Here? and Media Makeover.
Have you ever read a TED Book? Which was your favourite?
