Both my Research Proposal and the thesis itself are massive documents. So to make it easier to explain to relevant people, but also for myself, I created a “one page summary”. In print, this fits on one A4 and I’ve found it handy to give to colleagues or those completing my questionnaire. Here is a copy below. Most importantly, it includes my central research question and sub questions. These may seem simple but are the result of many hours of research and discussion, and will form the core backbone of my thesis.

Researcher: Renée Veldman-Tentori, r.j.veldman-tentori@hhs.nl
Part time Lecturer, IBMS, The Hague University of Applied Sciences (since 2014)

Brief overview:
The core values of education have not changed for millennia: learning has always been about capturing, sharing and communicating knowledge. However in the last decade, rapid technological advances have drastically changed the landscape of formal education, leading to an “elearning explosion”. The concepts of distance learning and online education are not new, however more recent terms such as elearning, blended learning, Edtech, MOOCs and OER have become part of the educational vocabulary and practice at an unprecedented rate. This research will explore and explain the power and potential of this elearning trend, with student study success being central, through exploring which factors are most relevant.
Central research question:
How can elearning enhance study success at The Hague University of Applied Sciences?
Sub questions:
- Which elements are most relevant to elearning in the context of higher education?
- Which elements are most relevant to study success in the context of higher education?
- To what extent is elearning currently being defined and operationalised at THUAS?
- How is study success currently defined and operationalised at THUAS?
- To what extent is elearning currently being identified, measured and communicated within THUAS?
- Is there likely to be a relationship between elearning and study success at THUAS?
