The Hague Grand Prix (3 to 5 March)
The Hague has been the scene of three very successful Grand Prix competitions. For 2017 the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation and the local swimming club The Hague Swimming have joined forces and are proud to present the Swim Cup The Hague. Combined with Amsterdam and Eindhoven the Netherlands is now host of an attractive series of three Swim Cups spread over the season.

The Swim Cup The Hague is a qualifying event for the World Championships in Budapest, and of course the Paraswimmers will be fully integrated in the tournament. The competition will be held in the attractive Hofbad (2012) in The Hague.
American Singer-Songwriter Dayna Kurtz (3 March)

The American singer-songwriter Dayna Kurtz is known for her powerful voice. Influenced by folk, rock, jazz, country, blues and the chanson, she makes sure that no one dares to parcel her off as a one-sided artist.
The versatile artist has been touring extensively in the past few years and overwhelmed audiences around the world with her solid performances. Critics compared her to Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley and Marianne Faithfull and she shared the stage with artists such as BB King, Rufus Wainwright, Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson and Norah Jones.
(UN)Heard Music Festival (4 – 5 March)

Together with Korzo, Matangi Quartet stages a new festival for ‘unheard of’ music: (UN)heard Music Destival. A brand new, multidisciplinary classical music festival for works that deserve more attention. This first edition features music by the Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. In addition to masterpieces from Silvestrov’s oeuvre, four works receive their premiere. A ‘marathon’ concert will be held on Saturday evening with works by Silvestrov in the presence of the composer.
Bezuidenhout bombing commemoration (5 March)
The annual commemoration of the bombing of Bezuidenhout during the Second World War will be held on Sunday, 5 March.

On 3 March 1945 the Allies intended to bomb the Germans’ V-2 launching facilities in the Haagse Bos. This plan went terribly wrong and instead nearly an entire neighbourhood was devastated.
Fateful day
The first bombs began to drop at 9.00 hrs. on 3 March 1945. The bombing lasted less than 30 minutes. Hundreds of people died. The fire brigade worked to put out the fires until deep in the night of 4 March, but too little fuel, not enough water and too few firefighters could not put out the various fires. The material damage was enormous. More than 5,000 homes, shops and office buildings, 5 churches, 15 schools and a dozen large buildings were destroyed.
The commemoration
The programme for the commemoration is:
- 10.00 hrs.: memorial service in the Christus Triumfatorkerk (Juliana van Stolberglaan 154)
- 12.00 hrs.: laying a wreath at the Juliana van Stolbergmonument (Koningin Marialaan 21)
- 13.00 hrs.: memorial concert in the Royal Conservatoire (Juliana van Stolberglaan 1)
You can decide yourself which part of the commemoration you would like to attend.
