The Hague to get BonFire Beach Fest in Spring

The Hague will host the biggest beach event in the Netherlands in the spring. The BonFire Beach Fest will take place between the Scheveningen harbour and the Zwarte Pad. The municipality is providing € 200,000 in funding for the event.

Organisers will join forces with the beach restaurants as well as the restaurants on the Pier and on the Scheveningen boulevard to make this 2-day event a success.

According to Deputy Mayor Karsten Klein, ‘Scheveningen is by far the most beautiful beach resort in Northwest Europe. Each year millions of people come to enjoy our beach. This calls for a blazing opening to the beach season .’

The festival theme is ‘fire’, which fits in well with the traditional fireworks festival and bonfires in Scheveningen. Cultural, musical, culinary and sporting activities will be organised at 3 locations. Visitors can expect theatrical fire acts, poi acts, fire-eaters, glow-in-the-dark, light and firework shows, tango dancers, flamenco music and a torch procession on the beach at night from the harbour to ‘t Puntje.
