Cool Event Scheveningen (13 November – 15 January)

This winter Scheveningen is again the place to be for the ultimate winter sport experience. From 13 November 2016 to 15 January 2017, The Hague’s beach resort will be transformed into a true winter wonderland called ‘Cool Event’. Ice skate on a beautiful ice rink of 600 m2 located next to the Kurhaus Hotel. Enjoy a drink on a heated winter terrace – glühwein and hot chocolate are firm favourites for this time of year!
TINK Amazing Shop Windows The Hague (08-25 December)

Shoppers in downtown The Hague can enjoy more than 50 beautifully decorated Christmas window displays, organised again this year from 8 to 25 December during TINK Amazing Shop Windows The Hague 2016. The shops are competing with one another to be chosen for the most regal and elegant shop display.
Amnesty International Writer’s Block Festival The Hague (09 December)

The second edition of Writer’s Block Festival The Hague. After a successful launch in 2015, Amnesty International’s WRITER’S BLOCK festival continues on the 9th of December with a second edition at The Hague University. Writer’s Block Festival is part of the world’s largest human rights campaign and invites everyone to write a letter to convince government officials to release people imprisoned for expressing their opinion.
State-X New Forms Final Edition: Two Days of Musical Adventure (09 December)

The Hague´s most adventerous annual music festival will see its 13th and final edition on Friday and Saturday December 9th & 10th in Paard van Troje, Koorenhuis and Korzo theatre. From its early days on, State-X New Forms (SXNF) focusses on the broad scope of musical underground-currents and presents its artists to a larger audience. It is exactly these subcutaneous interconnections that give State-X New Forms its inquisitive, unpredictable and exciting character.
Rootz Winterbier Festival (09-11 December)
Located on the Grote Marktstraat, more than 80 different (winter) beers are on tap. With several (local) breweries represented, and with a winter BBQ, a fire pit and live music, this is a great way to make the most of the winter.
STET English Theatre: A Christmas Carol (09-20 December)

Ashley Ramsden returns with this classic Christmas tale by Charles Dickens. He performs the story single handed and it shows his formidable talents as a storyteller and actor. The program embraces the original masterpiece, transporting audiences back to Victorian England and conjuring up the sinister back alleys, cobblestone streets, and ghostly apparitions that are the story’s hallmarks.
Rock A Rail on Grote Markt (10 December)

Some of the world’s top snowboarders will spend the weekend in the Netherlands doing what they do best: showing off spectacular tricks from a 2-story platform in one of the sickest rail setups ever to be seen in a city competition. They will be competing for prize money on snow provided by De Uithof.
The Aurora Project (10 December)

The Aurora Project is a successful player in the Dutch progressive rock landscape and is known for its excellent concept albums. Their album “Selling The Aggression” (2013) received rave reviews worldwide and was named “Album of the Year 2013” by Radio Sympho Shop. On December 10 The Aurora Project will be performing its brand-new fourth concept album “World of Grey” in its entirety. This performance will be an exclusive show to celebrate the release of the new album.
Wintermarket Dickens Style (11 December)

The 19th century of Charles Dickens relives in the picturesque Bergkwartier in Deventer on the 17th and 18th of December. More than 950 characters from the famous books of Dickens will revive. Oliver Twist, Scrooge, Marley and Mr. Pickwick, they are all there. Vagabonds are begging, thieves are stealing. You smell the punch, puffed potatoes and roasted chestnuts. Wealthy ladies and gentlemen with top hats parade in the streets. Christmas Carol Singers go from door to door. The scenery of the festival consists of historical buildings and houses, Christmas trees and thousands of little lights. Not only in the street, but also behind the windows, in the houses and in the little shops and galleries the romantic time of Dickens will revive.
Peace Palace Guided Tours (10-11 December)

Has a tour of the Visitors Centre left you curious as to what can be found behind the impressive façade of the Peace Palace? On some weekends throughout the year and for a couple of weeks in summer, the doors of the Palace open to the public. A guide will tell you about the building and about the institutions housed in it. A tour through the Great and Small Hall of Justice, the corridors and the Japanese Room will give you an impression of the most beautiful rooms of the Palace.
Romantic Christmas Market in the Rienkenstraat (11 December)

On Sunday 11th December the Reinkenstraat is again holding a lovely, lively and romantic Christmas Market, all lit up by the Christmas lights in the Reinkenstraat. Stroll around the multitude of Christmas stalls and Christmas trees and sample the special Christmas treats and drinks. Get inspired with great ideas for your Christmas dinner and treat yourself to the most delicious of dishes. Of course there will also be lots of original Christmas presents on offer!
TAIKA Christmas Concert (11 December)

Come and welcome Christmas with TAIKA – the Finnish Female Choir! On 11 December 2016 TAIKA will perform in the Houtrustkerk, in the Hague. The family-friendly concert with a repertoire of Finnish and international Christmas music will help us land to the wonderful Christmas feel. Join us for a evening under the Christmas tree!
Galant Diverssiment (11 December)

The origin of the violin sonata with piano or harpsichord obligato lies in the sonatas for keyboard instruments with violin accompaniment. Around 1750 these sonatas became a trend and occasionally the part of the violin was left out. In this concert Menno van Delft and Lidewij van der Voort take us on a trip to this period with an instrument directly from this sound world: one of the only two remaining, signed harpsichords built in 1768 in Amsterdam by Carl Friedrich Laescke.
All There Is (11 December)

Choreographer Rafaela Giovanola and dramaturg Rained based their latest exploration of narration in dance on Alice in Wonderland. Experience a dialogue between dance and animation as artist Rouby draws, shapes and erases his own Alice.
