Last Saturday night (2 November), the unique silent disco event God is A DJ welcomed more than 700 visitors to The Hague’s iconic Grote Kerk. The historic venue had been transformed into an atmospheric space for the occasion, where music, light and architecture came together for a unique night out in The Hague’s nightlife scene. Visitors could dance all evening to three music channels with a variety of styles, ensuring there was something for everyone: from guilty pleasures and disco hits to surprising dance records.
Highlight with inventor of the Silent Disco
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the performance by Nico Okkerse, the inventor of the Silent Disco, who took visitors on a musical journey. With his trademark enthusiasm, he managed to build the atmosphere and immerse the audience in a unique experience of music, theatre and speech. Okkerse’s presence gave the evening a unique dimension and highlighted the innovative power of the concept, which brings people together in a surprisingly personal and energetic way.
Organiser looks back on successful evening
Jasper Scholte, organiser and director of JMR Event Makers, looks back on the event with satisfaction: “It is wonderful to see how people got carried away by the combination of music and the special setting of the Grote Kerk. We really created something special where people felt free to be totally immersed in the music. That feeling of connection, with each other and with the place, made this evening a success. Visitors of all ages and with different musical preferences enjoyed a night of music and encounters at one of The Hague’s most recognisable monuments. With its impressive architecture and rich history, the Grote Kerk provided an enchanting setting for the event and made it a special experience for many to dance in these surroundings.
