Pathé Ypenburg welcomed its millionth visitor recently, just 16 months after its official opening. On this festive day, visitor Corine de Mooij was pleasantly surprised during her visit to the film Binnenstebuiten 2 (Inside Out 2). Theatre manager Ellen Moller presented Corine with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a Pathé Unlimited subscription for six months.
Corine: ‘If I had to describe Pathé Ypenburg in one word, it would undoubtedly be “relaxed.” Everything contributes to this: the accessibility, the parking, the friendly staff and, of course, the comfortable seats.’
Number three cinema in the Netherlands
Pathé Ypenburg opened its doors on 11 May 2023 and has been wildly popular ever since. The Hague cinema has quickly become the third most visited cinema in the Netherlands. At number one is Pathé De Kuip, followed by Pathé Arena. The Hague really proves to be a city of film lovers. With the arrival of the brand new cinema in the Ypenburg district, the total number of Pathé visitors in The Hague (Pathé Spuimarkt, Pathé Buitenhof and Pathé Scheveningen) has grown even further.
The cinema offers a state-of-the-art film experience with eight theatres, each equipped with comfortable Relax Seats that are electrically adjustable, allowing visitors to find their perfect viewing position. Pathé Ypenburg was built according to the latest sustainability and energy guidelines and is almost entirely self-sufficient with heat pumps and 720 solar panels.
Over 400 top films screened
Since the opening, over 400 film titles have been screened on the big screen of The Hague cinema, ranging from blockbusters to romcoms, from action to drama, and from thrillers and horror to arthouse films. The three best-attended films since Pathé Ypenburg opened are the colourful adventures of Barbie, the enchanting world of chocolatier Wonka, and the compelling emotions in the recent animated film Inside Out 2 (Binnenstebuiten 2).
The(Any)Thing
A notable addition to Pathé Ypenburg’s offering is The(Any)Thing, the world’s first on-demand cinema in a multiplex. The cinema has a total of six screens, five of which are designed for two people and one dedicated room for up to five people. The private cinemas have a unique design and offer movie lovers the freedom to choose which film they want to see, when, and with how many people. This innovative concept has attracted worldwide attention and was awarded eighth place in the 2024 list of 50 coolest retailers.
Film programming
Pathé Ypenburg has a diverse range of films, including Kleuterbios, 50PLUS Bios, Ladies Nights and live opera, ballet and theatre performances. Pathé shows a varied film programming with something for everyone, including currently Inside Out 2 (Binnenstebuiten 2), Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us. Many top titles will be added this year, including Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Joker: Folie à Deux, Gladiator 2, Vaiana 2, Wicked and Mufasa.
