Since September 2015, I’ve been studying part time towards my MICM – Master in International Communication Management at The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Earlier this year, I wrote a blog post personal overview of this study:
Today, after months of thinking about it, I finally started “putting pen to paper” (and fingers to keyboard) to deal with the rather overwhelming task of writing my thesis.
I was an early Prezi user but then drifted back to Powerpoint for the last couple of years – but took the time to go back and “relearn” Prezi today as it’s an excellent tool to use when trying to capture so many inter-related ideas in one document.
It is still rather messy and after recording this video I’ve already spotted several mistakes – but need to start somewhere and just DO IT. The video is much longer than I wanted it to be and I need to learn to FOCUS…but part of how I do that is to tackle big picture and then zoom in – literally.
You can access the Prezi I used here
I’d like to share this journey for several reasons.
Firstly, I think it completely enhances the learning experience when you journal, document and share.
Secondly, I have already come a long way and still have a long way to go. It’s going to be really interesting to come back to this in a month or two and see how far I have come.
Thirdly, several people have asked what it’s like to study a Masters, so this will give you a real life picture of at least my experience of it.
Finally I already have been and will continue to be a bit of a hermit while I’m studying. So for friends and family that haven’t seen much of me lately – here’s what I’m up to!
